Salt is an 18 year old guy. He hasn't really ever had a family and has moved from caravan to caravan never staying in one place for long. He's bitter and cold and loves making things go boom. He likes to see things burn and he really doesn't care whose on the other end of his rage. Yet he's grounded by his quirky misfit female peer Catrina. They are always looking for a way to get by and he's the brawn behind their friendship. The world has changed and he wants to be alive to see the next. Also when the world has gone to hell in a hand basket he has always found a way to get them into and out of trouble. Catrina is his family and he'll be damned if something happens to her. It's day to day and Salt is always finding a new way to cheat, scam, steal,or actually use legal methods to survive.
-
Salt humming a tune. Looks up and says, "Your so impatient. We have to lay low for a while"
U Mad bro?
-
Salt eye's narrowed. "When the hell have you been so fired up and ready to go?" Salt looked at her and in a more relaxed tone said, "I messed up, ok?"
"Wasn't my fault that the bandits wanted more then what I could provide, given the circumstances."
Salt gave Catrina a sheepish ,I messed up now forgive me, smile and sat down on the chair in the corner of the shack, layed his head on the side of the shack, closed his eye's and tried to get some sleep. -
Salt wakes up first, to the muzzle of a pistol in his face. Salt said in a sarcastic tone,"Who called room service?" The man was a Bandit so Salt did what salt does, he kicked the guy in the balls, took his gun and put a bullet in his brain. Catrina looked at him with a look that could kill. "what?" Salt teased in a innocent tone. "He was in my space." She shook her head, grabbed her parka, put it on and grabbed her backpack. She stormed out of the hut in front of him into the town called Bakersville. Salt checked if he had everything and asked, "What's next then pissy?"
-
Fine too much effort
-
"Eh sure" Salt walks down the street, whistling like nothing ever happened.
-
"Im crazy?" he says in a whisper looking at the ground as he walks. Salt then turns and walks over to the cart selling soup. "I'm calm because this world suck's people kill people everyday why should I care?" He says as he shovels soup into his mouth. "I'm the same as everyone trying to get by one day at a time." Why are you so calm? You just saw me kill someone."
-
Salt finishes his soup and says ignoring what she just said, "Well we should get to the docks and actually get payed for this lab swipe card." Salt keeps walking at a brisk pace. He really wishes that sometimes he could just do one job without being hunted for what he took. Salt sighs and keeps going with a scowl on his face.
-
"Well how do you expect to keep living?" Salt sounded harsher then he intended. "It's just I don't know how to stay alive without doing what we do" Salt didn't really like the way this conversation was heading so he didn't say another word until they got to the docks.
-
Salt walked in the dock yard like he owned the place. The dock's was where armour and weapons where manufactured for the PAC army. He walked into a shed on the outskirts of the docks and saw what he was looking for. Salt picked up the duffel bag and left the lab swipe key in it's place. He walked out of the shed with a huge smile on his face.
-
"Yes" Salt said now lets go find some more work and a safe place to sleep tonight" Salt started walking toward the gate of the docks. He was trying to think of somewhere to find work. He was thinking it was time to get out of bakersville and move on to somewhere else. HE would have to ask Catrina first though.
-
"Yeah great idea, lets go live in the freaking desert with all that fighting over oil going on." Salt said his voice dripping with sarcasm. "It's easier not to get killed here." Salt said lightening up a little. "We'll go where the work takes us." Salt was walking toward the airstrip outside of Bakersville hoping they could catch a ride on a cargo plane. Salt was thinking about warmth. He hadn't been warm since the ice age started and he didn't think he would be warm ever again. It was a new world where law was nothing and survival was the only thing.
-
Salt lightly pushed her off and said, "Yeah and work under guard and not get fed. They don't get paid they are POW from the war." Salt said this as he helped Catrina into the cargo bay of the plane. "I promise after we make enough we'll find somewhere safe. ok" Salt looked at Catrina with meaningful eyes when he said this.
-
"Promise" Said salt not really knowing if he was going to keep it. "I wonder where we are going to land" Salt said to no one in particular.
-
Salt was the first one off the plane and he didn't like where he was standing. In the freaking desert! Salt couldn't believe it. His luck was awful. "Goddamit" He muttered
-
Salt looked over a sheepish smile on his face. :we kinda, maybe didn't get on that plane legally." Salt didn't know anyone in the desert and they stuck out in there winter gear. "Well I guess to the nearest town and to find some new gear. for the desert." Salt wanted to go back on the plane but the ground crews where starting to talk into their mics so he decided against it. "Well let's go find somthing a little lighter to wear in this heat."
-
Salt shakes his head and turns around "Hurry up I need new combat gear" Salt was tired and none to impressed that he landed in the desert. Now all he had to do was find work and things would be looking up.
-
Salt nodded and and started walking to the nearest building outside of the airfield. Salt didn't like this cause all he saw was army personal and he didn't feel like getting shot. Yet he went up to one of the soliders outside the air field and asked, "Hey is there a market around here?" Salt then listen as the solider gave him directions to the market. Salt looked over his shoulder and said," Let's go shopping."
-
Salt felt like he wasn't boiling anymore after he got his new clothes. "Let's go talk around and find something to do." Salt felt tired but he knew he had to keep going.
